Computer Running Slow?

We Can Help.

Whether your computer takes forever to start, freezes constantly, or just isn’t as fast as it used to be, our technicians can diagnose the cause and get it running the way it should again.

What Causes A Slow Computer?

There isn’t one reason computers become slow. Sometimes it’s something simple, like years of temporary files, unnecessary startup programs, or software that’s accumulated over time. Other times, it could be a failing hard drive, not enough memory (RAM), overheating, or another hardware issue that’s preventing your computer from performing the way it should.

The good news is that most slow computers can be significantly improved without replacing them. We’ll take the time to figure out what’s actually causing the problem, explain it in plain English, and recommend the most cost-effective solution – whether that’s a tune-up, a hardware upgrade, or simply letting you know it’s time to consider a new computer.

Common Signs of a Slow Computer

What's Actually Wrong?

Aging Hard Drive

Traditional hard drives eventually slow down. Upgrading to an SSD can make an older computer feel dramatically faster.

Too Many Startup Programs

Many applications automatically start every time your computer boots, slowing everything down.

Virus or Malware

Malicious software often runs silently in the background, using system resources and making computers feel sluggish.

Failing Hardware

A failing hard drive, overheating components, or memory problems can all cause poor performance.

Not Enough Memory (RAM)

Modern software needs more memory than older computers were designed with. Sometimes a simple RAM upgrade makes a huge difference.

A computer that suddenly becomes slow is often trying to tell you something. Common causes include a failing hard drive, low available storage, too many startup programs, Windows update issues, overheating, failing hardware, or software running in the background. In some cases, viruses or malware can also affect performance. Our technicians will determine what's actually causing the slowdown and explain the best repair options before any work begins.

In many cases, a slow computer can absolutely be repaired. Simple solutions like a computer tune-up, SSD upgrade, memory (RAM) upgrade, software cleanup, or replacing failing hardware can dramatically improve performance. If we believe replacing your computer is the better investment, we'll tell you honestly and explain why. Our goal is to help you make the smartest decision, not sell you an unnecessary repair.

Sometimes, yes. Many older computers can feel dramatically faster with upgrades like a solid-state drive (SSD), additional RAM, or replacing worn hardware. During our evaluation, we'll let you know whether an upgrade makes financial sense or if putting that money toward a new computer would be the better long-term investment.

If your computer has simply become bogged down over time, a professional computer tune-up can often make a noticeable difference. We remove unnecessary software, optimize startup programs, clean temporary files, install updates, and address common performance issues that build up over years of everyday use. If the slowdown is caused by failing hardware instead, we'll explain what needs attention before recommending additional repairs.

Protecting your files is always a priority. Most slow computer repairs - including tune-ups, hardware upgrades, and performance optimization - can be completed without affecting your personal files. If there's ever a situation where your data could be at risk, we'll discuss it with you first and recommend backup or data recovery options before moving forward.

Most slow computer repairs are completed within 3–5 business days, depending on the cause of the problem and whether replacement parts are needed. Some performance issues can be resolved more quickly, while hardware upgrades or repairs may take additional time. We'll keep you informed throughout the process and let you know as soon as your computer is ready for pickup.  Bring it in and we'll give you a more exact estimate.

Most slow computers can be restored with our PC Tune-Up for $199 + tax, which solves the vast majority of performance issues without needing additional repairs. If we discover that an SSD upgrade, additional memory (RAM), or other hardware would make a significant difference, we'll explain why, provide a quote before doing any work, and can install the parts for a small hourly labor fee. Our goal is always to recommend the most cost-effective solution, not the most expensive one.
